Grizzly Bears Food

Grizzly Bear Food – Vegetation

A common misconception is that the grizzly bear is a ferocious beast that only eats meat, especially from young humans. This is obviously not true and although the grizzly is capable of eating meat, as all other bears, it actually prefers to sit in private and chow down on a nice vegetarian diet. Fresh buds, fruits, berries, nuts, roots and shrubberies is a perfect diet for the ordinary grizzly bear which prefers not to get involved with other animals for as long as it can. It is common to spot grizzly bears around marshlands since there it will find a wide variety of juicy vegetation to eat.

Grizzly Bear Food – Animal

Because of the geographical location of the grizzly bears habitat the grizzly bear is more likely to eat meat than other bears. Because of the very short summers in the far north the grizzly bear is always sort of living on the edge to starvation, making it a little more desperate for food than any other common bear. The grizzly bear is most likely to act as a predator right after it comes out of hibernation, when it is hungrier than ever, or just before going into hibernation, when it realizes that it has not eaten enough during the summer to survive the winter. The grizzly bear is extremely powerful and can kill a deer or a moose with a single blow from its paws. Because of this the grizzly bear prefers to ambush its prey rather than to stalk it, although the grizzly bear is able to sustain 35mph for several hours. The grizzly bear is also an excellent fisher being able to catch salmon, trout and bass with no problem.

Grizzly Bear Food – And more

As most other bears the grizzly bear is very fond of sweets and can find food several miles away. The grizzly bear is particularly fond of honey and although it does not bother someone if the grizzly bear breaks open a natural beehive there are some that might object when it breaks a commercial beehive. The grizzly bear is also known to track down trashcans and knock them over in a way to get hold on the food left behind from humans. It is a blessing for the grizzly bears that there is food to be found wherever humans are, but for humans it is a curse.
